Winnie the Pooh is a big bee for Halloween!!

His name is Caleb.  He is 23.  He is an adult living with Autism.  He's my son.

The name of this blog is named after him.  He became obsessed with Winnie the Pooh around the age of 2.
Our lives really have been in the Hundred Acre Woods.  I'll write about it sometime--especially for those of you who have little knowledge of Autism and/or living with someone who has it or for those of you moms and dads that just came upon this blog and are looking for answers.

However for today, I have no answers for you.  It is Halloween, and Caleb dressed up for work. He's the only one still living at home AND the only one in our family who still dresses up for Halloween. I complain (and loudly) every year that I still have to make stupid costumes.  I'm a "bah humbug" when it comes to Halloween.  I don't like the trick or treating, or dressing up, or eating and giving candy.  But for Caleb, who sees life through the eyes of a 5 year old, life is still simple, and fun.

So Buzzzz and TRICK OR TREAT!!!!

  2. I found your blog through Pinterest. As I was reading your posts, tears became present in my eyes. I don't know if it was the post about your son, Caleb at Halloween or the post about your mother suffering from Alzheimer's that touched me the most. My guess is, a little of both. I look forward to checking in often and growing, learning, and laughing from your blog! Thank you for presenting Autism and Alzheimer's is such a realistic and touching way!

  4. I love that you are so understanding of your son's autism and you let him still live life to the fullest. As a special educator I often worry about the people living with autism especially the one's who don't have a mother like you... props to you for being awesome!

  5. You are such a good and understanding mom. I am really touched buy your posts. Just found you today, via Pinterest. My mom died of Alzheimers (and she had breast cancer). She was like having an infant. My dad and I kept her home and she lived 16 years with this. I remember the morning she died. She didn't talk or make expressions, just nothing. I am an only child and I sit here in tears as I think about me trying to tell her goodbye. I leaned down to kiss her and tell her I loved her and in a voice that was so plain and clear, she smiled and said I Love You too! That was 12 years ago. I will keep checking in on your posts!

    1. Thank you Nana Jan. Your story touched me. Actually, if you read my most recent post, the Alzheimer's isn't going to get her. Sometimes, life is just full of irony. Thank you for sharing.
